 Dos and Don’ts for Backup/Restore

• If a WSP needs to be installed it requires a iis reset before testing

• Always use PowerShell command for backup/restore process

• If a WSP is updated incrementally use update wsp command. It is not recommended to uninstalled the older and then reinstall the new always use update for incremental wsp deployment

• Note restoration of a site collection all ways overwrites the existing one

• Every site collecting is attached with a content database so always use the below referred command for restoration

• Before creating a new site collection create a content database for attaching the site collection

• Always install WSP before restoring site

• Security group should be complying and in sync with production to restore it to any environment other than prod. Restoration will fail and give permission issue if not in sync or comply
